Advanced Model Design - Garrick Theater Building
The project consists in the recreation of the old Garrick Theater in scaled model form. The group of students responsible for the project, including myself, reached the final product through many mockups of the model and its pieces, and analyzing old rental booklets and pictures of the demolished building from 1926. The Model got its own space in the Wrightwood 659 Gallery for the “Romanticism to Ruin: Two Lost Works of Sullivan and Wright” exhibit. The model was developed through drawings done on AutoCAD to design and laser cut the pieces. Additionally, Rhino3D was used for modeling more intricate pieces that had to be 3D printed. After the pieces were finalized, a layer of white primer was applied to prepare each individual part of the model for its final color, which was picked specifically to fit the Gallery lighting.
